Advocacy. As we look ahead, we know it’s not enough to just resist. And it’s not enough to just survive these challenging times. We need to keep doing the work that creates real change to improve the everyday lives of each and every person in our community.

Our community is our strength! EqualityMaine works to keep our community strong by offering a wide array of signature events throughout the state that give you the opportunity to connect with others, engage in our work, and know our staff and board.

Portland Outright supports under-served members of the LGBTQ+ youth community through weekly member meetings, ongoing mentorship, social events, and trainings, as well as intentional support to youth navigating systems - such as the juvenile justice system, foster care, homelessness and mental health services.

Portland Outright is a community of people who are invested in each other, building deep connections, sharing both our struggle and joy, while fighting for each other's dignity and survival.

Outright Lewiston/Auburn creates safe and affirming environments for youth ages 12-21 who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or questioning.

Over the years, young people in Outright L/A have also participated in many activities beyond its boundaries: through events like queer conferences and, for many years, an annual Maine summer youth summit that Outright L/A contributed to organizing; through speaking engagements at schools and for other organizations; through workshops, GSAs, political actions, Pride activities, and more.

Now in the 12th year, Outright L/A continues to strive to bring social-justice principles and practices to Outright and from Outright out into the world.

Downeast Rainbow Alliance

Advocacy, Education & Support for the LGBTQ+ Community in Washington County, Maine.

Our Mission: Advocacy, Education, and Support for the LGBTQ2S+ Community in Washington County/Passamaquoddy Territory.

The Downeast Rainbow Alliance (DRA) Zooms on Thursdays at 6:30pm Eastern. We schedule our meetings every 4-8 weeks.

Please email <downeastrainbowalliance@gmail.com> to receive zoom link, agendas and meeting notes.

We began our coalition in 2013 as a Community Circle with a goal to support GSTA clubs in area high schools. The mission since has expanded and now works towards creating an environment where everyone can thrive as their authentic self in Washington County. The DRA meetings are used to discuss current events, engage statewide organizations and support community progress.

In 2020 the DRA began expanding our efforts by initiating “The Traveling Rainbow” a grant funded project to reduce teen suicide in our region.

GLSEN is a national education organization working to ensure safe and inclusive schools for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
